What The Vibes Are
What It’s About
Troy Brennan
Every Southie in Boston knows that name. The son of a dead mobster. The heartthrob with steel blue eyes. “The Fixer” who can make or break you in this city.
Oh, and my new husband.
Sparrow Raynes
That’s me. No one seemed to remember my name up until he barged into my life.
But then he caged me.
Kidnapped me.
And killed every chance I had to runaway from the place where we grew up.
Put simply, Troy Brennan clipped my wings.
I have dreams, big ones, but I doubt he’d ever let me chase them. I have no idea why he’d decided to take me as his wife. But I do know this: pissing off this man will not do me any good. At all.
Sparrow is a standalone, full-length novel. It contains graphic violence and adult situations some may find offensive.
What I thought about it
***Possible Spoilers below
“He gave me lies, and I ate them from the palm of his hand. He gave me lies, and for him, I closed my eyes.”
Normally, I hate Shen’s alphahole characters, but I actually loved Troy. The first book I read by Shen was Vicious, and I remember thinking throughout the entire time why this heroine was putting up with his mental abuse. I hated when the heroine was some weak-minded, dependent woman who can’t stand up to an asshole who didn’t want her, but won’t let another have her.
Anyway, I loved Sparrow (both the character and the Book.) The character was a badass chick who went head-to-head with Troy despite her fear and knowledge of his reputation. I applaud the author for the circumstances in which she wrote the novel, and hope that she did, in fact, get those 700 hours of sleep.
Sparrow was a great novel. Great plot build, character development, and emotion. I finished it in 2 hours and loved every second of it. Couldn’t put it down!
