๐๏ธ โ Plot Breakdown & Commentary:
Twisted Lie picked up shortly after the events of the previous book, Twisted Hate. Jules had just moved out a few months prior and Stella was still living in the apartment that Christian owned. When Jules left, Stella was able to strike a deal with Christian to water his plants in exchange for another discounted rent. Borderline robbery.
Christian began keeping tabs on Stella as his obsession with her grew. Stella was a journalist for DC Style as well as an aspiring fashion blogger. She began pursuing an ambassador opportunity with a luxury brand that she adored and under the behest of her agent, Stella struck up a deal with Christian to engage in a fake relationship.
This benefited Stella because her agent believed that having a boyfriend would help her gain a higher follower count thus giving her a better chance at the brand ambassador position. Christian benefited because he needed arm candy for charity work events he would attend. Since heโs obsessed, that was clearly bullshark.
Each came up with stipulations to the deal. Christianโs rule was that she couldnโt post his face, she could post any other part of him except that. Stella’s rules were no kissing unless necessary, no feelings, and absolutely no s3x. All of which were broken.

Part of the deal was Christianโs offer to cover Mauraโs expenses. Maura was Stellaโs nanny growing up, and her pseudo-mother since her actual one was too career-driven to be around other than to criticize. Maura had no family after the passing of her daughter and Stella felt a sense of love and need to care for the woman who was all but raised after the Alzheimer’s diagnosis.
Stella got the ambassador position and her career began to take off. Unfortunately, shortly before the offer, she was fired from her job but it all worked out. We learned quickly that Stella had a malicious stalker, one that wasnโt Christian. Stella turned to Christian for help as the stalker began to escalate and as their relationship began to turn into more.
Things took a turn after Stella came across the file Christian had on her and how in-depth it was about her life along with her dislikes and likes. Eventually, they worked things out and lived happily ever after. The smut in between was pretty enjoyable, too.
๐๏ธ โ Closing Thoughts:
Twisted Lies was a great conclusion to the series and a great intro to Huangโs new series, Kings of Sin. Christian and Stellaโs love story was a great read. I enjoyed learning about each of their traumas and how they overcame everything for one another. I canโt wait to read King of Wrath!
