🕊️ ➞ Synopsis:

I’m twenty-six years old, and I want to die.

So when I wake up at the hospital with my brother weeping over me, I know my life is about to change. What I didn’t expect was to get a nurse with cruel eyes and a morbid sense of humor that surpasses my own.

I’m even more surprised when I arrive at Harlow Sanctum and realize that my brother selected an unorthodox rehabilitation center that rooms people based on their treatment plan. And my roommate is none other than the man with cruel eyes I met the day prior.

I crave death—he craves life.

Can two people like us cure each other?

🕊️ ➞ Progress Notes & Initial Thoughts:

** As per my Threads **

7% // “Wynn, this is Doctor Prestin. He’s going to evaluate you for commitment to Harlow Sanctum.” Is he? Cause he definitely looks like he tortures his patients… Jesus.

14% // so he’s a masochistic adrenaline junkie… awesome ?

39% // Gotta love the shower org!es. S3x therapy rehabilitation? Do these exist???

59% // “So that I can love you the way you deserve to be loved.”

66% // If the boys’ tattoo represents this trio, I’m going to ball my eyes out.

68% // IT IS 😭😭
“The tattoo is for the three of us. It was just me and Lanston before, but you’re a part of our healing as well, so we decided to add you.”

80% // Okay Crosby’s reveal was kinda predictable but what WASN’T was Crosby’s illness and origin.

100% // This book 110% f*cking broke me. I need to go lay down…

🕊️ ➞ My Favorite Quotes:

“The Fabric of our Souls is thin and worn. We must be gentle and love tirelessly.”

– Lanston, Chapter 22

“Not this time, baby. Go on ahead without me. I’ll see you two later.”

– Lanston, Chapter 45

🕊️ ➞ My Thoughts:

The Fabric of Our Souls very literally destroyed me and my masochistic little heart ate it up and begged for more. This book isn’t intended for those for the faint of heart or even those who’ve never known what rock bottom feels like. Some will say that this romanticized mental illness and they’d be right, in a way, if you think that then you missed the reasoning behind the book. Those of us who understand, do truly realize the sickness behind the romance, but it’s not about that. It’s about losing ourselves in the unattainable dream of having someone save us. And for most of us, Peter Pan wasn’t the one we wanted to save us. It was Hook.

I enjoyed this read. It left my heart hurting, my eyes wet, and a yearning for a love like these three had. If you’ve had the bittersweet experience of reading The Fabric of Our Souls, comment your thoughts below! I look forward to hearing from you!

L.B.
