Of Nectar & Steel was a bit lackluster for me. The ideas were there, but the story fell flat. The romance seemed underdeveloped and rushed, the whole secret society plotline felt ripped off from some distant memory of something else, but chapters were cut up just enough to keep you reading.

What It’s About

“If I lived a hundred million lives, it wouldn’t be enough.”

Her presence commanded me instantly.

Her scent ravished my senses, altering my course. The flavors of her aura moistened my mouth; the most tempting nectar to ever cross my path. Like a man dying of thirst, I had to consume more and would do anything to get it.

I’d come across interesting souls before, but hers called to the deepest levels of my spirit. Desperate, I searched for the source amidst the crowds until I found a trail of sparkling bronze mist.

Finally, a woman’s slim form was weaving through the throngs of people, shivering along, and leaving a path of swirling snow and temptation in her wake.

Just as suddenly, she disappeared into the bustling crowd, but the metallic sparkle of her luscious aura left a distinct path for me to follow.

Like a man possessed, she’d never escape me once I’d claimed her as my own.
There was nowhere in the universe she could go I wouldn’t find her.
She was the purest, most radiant stardust I’d ever seen and her fate had been determined the very moment she’d entered my awareness.

I would bring her to my home, tucked inside the void between realms where I could keep her safe. Mine.

Little did I know, my own ghosts were catching up and no amount of bloodshed would keep these demons at bay.

The monsters demanded to be fed and to keep her safe, the only sacrifice I could offer was myself.

What I thought about it

Of Nectar & Steel was a bit lackluster for me. The ideas were there, but I felt that most of the story fell flat. The romance seemed underdeveloped and rushed, the whole secret society plotline felt ripped off from some distant memory of something else, and the chapters were cut up just enough to keep you reading. So at least there’s that. It was just missing something…

Conclusion

Overall, I’d recommend Of Nectar & Steel for those looking for a quick, gothic read with an obsessed vampire assassin. Otherwise, not something I’d overly rave about. Have you read this book?
