What Lurks Between the Fates took off where the previous book left off; Caldris and Estrella made it to Alfheimr but were immediately captured by Caldris’s abusive stepmother, Queen Mab. The focus of this book was to discover what powers Estrella had and to determine whether or not she was fae.

What Hunts Inside the Shadows was definitely more plot-heavy than its predecessor – which we love. We still got some good spice but it focused more on the world’s lore and the origin of everything. The blend of religions and lore was intriguing and enjoyable. Want smut? Plot? Lore and action?

What Lies Beyond the Veil was the perfect smutty fantasy read I needed. Loads of amazing spice while still maintaining world-building and lore. I listened to the entire series on Audible, and it had quite the chokehold on me! Caelum reminded me of Henry Cavill’s drool-worthy character, Geralt from The Witcher.

I enjoyed Twisted Hate. The spicy scenes were top-tier. I also enjoyed that Huang didn’t end the book with the heroine and the hero getting married. They were together, but they both decided to take it slow. It was a nice change. 5/5 would recommend to those who love enemies-to-lovers.

I received Starling House in my October 2023 Owlcrate Adult Fantasy Box, and immediately fell in love with the blurb as well as the gorgeous special edition I got. Starling House was filled with eerie vibes, monsters, forbidden love, and fantasy. I loved the footnotes in book’s formatting and layout.

In The Haunted, I didn’t connect with any of the characters. The scary aspects were pretty good and the house’s history was specularly creepy. I did enjoyed the plot and the build-up, but I was greatly disappointed with the ending. I felt it to be lackluster after a huge buildup.

The first two-thirds of Final Girls was so slow. I thought this would be more of a slasher, but I was wrong. The story behind Pine Cottage didn’t pick up until the last 100 pages. I was so unsatisfied with this ending, even though all the loose ends were closed.
